Broad Objective
Establish a comprehensive proactive Earthquake Risk Reduction Strategy that can be implemented at all levels so that urban infrastructure security preparedness is considered early in Dhaka City.
Specific Objectives
Examine vulnerability assessment of critical/essential facilities and gas lifelines; assess likely earthquake damages and preparedness gaps; evaluate early-warning and response capacities; strengthen Emergency Operation Centre / Technical Support Centre functions; and support distant training and education for design, vetting, construction, supervision and monitoring.
Research Questions
The research asks what proactive measures are appropriate, what the present condition of Dhaka infrastructure, gas lines and soil is, what earthquake education platforms exist, how other countries manage gas systems, and how vulnerable structures and gas lines can be addressed in Bangladesh.
